| Customer Reviews: My Favorite Footwear for Casual Hiking September 3, 2010 Steven Gargolinski (Boston) My fiancee and I go on a lot of casual hikes, and Merill hiking shoes are definitely my preferred footwear of choice - assuming that I'm not carrying any sort of heavy weight. This shoe is high quality, solid construction, and look pretty cool. They are very comfortable, have a solid arch, and provide decent traction.
The only thing I would note is that I have wide-ish feet and these shoes seem to run narrow - more narrow than my similarly-sized sneakers. I always go up half of a size on these.
Yes Yes Yes! April 1, 2010 Lao T. Sue (Virginia) I have suffered from plantar faschiitis, a painful arch and heel condition. These shoes feature a low heel cup and a decent arch so that I can wear them without pain all day. They are extremely comfortable, wear well, and the traction is excellent. Be aware that the gore-tex version of this model seems a bit smaller than the regular one. An all-around walking or light hiking shoe. All in all, the most comfortable I've found. I've even replaced my Mizuno Ware Creations with this one.
They are a bit small March 29, 2010 J. Moore (USA) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
After searching some other reviews I have found the same problems, for some reason these shoes run rather small. I own 2 other pairs of Merrell shoes the same size and they fit great, great shoes too! These were far too small! But good looking shoe and I am sure comfortable had they fit right.
Awesome walking shoes October 18, 2009 A-systematic These shoes are perfect. I own several other pairs of Merrell hiking boots, and i use these for cruising around town and light hikes. I would say to size them the same as your other Merrell boots, if you don't have any then go up .5 size. My other boots are 11, but I ordered an 11.5 based on the reviews. Turns out 11 was the correct size. The front of the shoe gets a little narrow so it might be tight for wide feet.
Thanks to Merrell and Amazon for the great shoes and awesome deal. I got these shipped to my door for $20 less than the stores in town.
