| Customer Reviews: lifesaving shoe shape-ups August 22, 2010 alexander 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
I have extreme foot problems. I wear a 14AAAA shoe, have flat feet, arthritis in the forefoot on the left side and a nerve impingement problem on the right. Walking a half mile in conventional shoes or sneakers caused extreme pain. Since I wear shape-ups I am able to walk long distances pain free.
I tried the XT model but found them too flexible. On;y the original will do.
Unfortunately Skechers has discontinued various original models and replaced them with X versions. The available size range of the originals has shrunken so much that I am no longer able to buy replacements.
Walking on air July 19, 2010 CW 3 out of 4 found this review helpful
Yep, I was hanging out with the wife while she was shopping, which usually takes forever...I found myself walking around the store just looking at whatever. When I got to the shoes section I spotted these funny looking shape up shoes. Well, having plenty of time to kill I decided to try these babies on. To my surprise, while walking around in them I kind of felt like I was walking on air, it being so smooth and effortless to walk. Needless to say, not even being here to buy any shoes I found myself walking around the store with these babies under my arm in the box. I still like them after days of wearing and felling wonderful, as I walk along.
Go figure?

These are without a doubt the most comfortable shoe I've ever owned. I walked 3.5 miles yesterday and had no foot discomfort at all. Arch support is superb. I don't know how they will hold up, and have noticed they do scuff floors, but my feet feel good while scuffing the floor. lol

I came across these shoes when I was looking for something that would be easy on my knees. I first came across MBTs, but a lot of their customers have said that quality has decreased since the original owner of the company sold his share. Thus, I decided against the MBTs and in favor of the Skechers. I was looking for something that could be a casual shoe that also would be acceptable for work (kind of the wheelhouse for Skechers generally, in my opinion). After looking at the marketing, I liked the aspects of aiding posture and decreasing stress on the knees. I chalked up the 'workout' aspect to a marketing gimmick.
After wearing the shoes for a few weeks, I can say that they live up to my expectations. Walking is extremely comfortable, and although it is a bit uneasy at first, it really decreases the stress on the joints. I think the posture aid is at least somewhat effective, but that is somewhat more subjective of a judgment. As for the workout aspect, I don't feel like I have gained all that much out of them, but I didn't really care about that going in anyway. I continue to wear them everyday and they continue to be comfortable. The only reason they lost a star is because I am beginning to notice the leather seems to be cracking a little already. I would have expected that shoes at this price level would have a more durable outer layer. Overall, though, a great product.
Update (June 5, 2010): I still wear the shoes, but my heels have worn a hole in the inside heel portion of both shoes. It doesn't really affect my comfort level since I don't feel it through my socks, but just an advisory to those considering these shoes. Admittedly, however, I am very "hard" on shoes.
